About Me

Soon my website will be adorned with videos that allow me to talk with you in a way that feels more direct, giving you a chance to learn about me and experience my personality.

Until then, here's a little something about me for you to read :-)

I have been performing, singing, and acting since I was barely 3 years old.  I sang solos and duets with my brother as special music for my church.  My talent was quickly recognized, so I was asked to sing solos with the church choir, and then sing featured roles in church outreach productions, all before the age of 6.  I averaged performing in two or more shows a year until I finally decided in 7th grade that I could make a career out of this.  I continued performing in a large variety of ways through high school and college, majoring in Vocal Performance will Cello and Piano Performance minors.  While in high school I realized I had a skill for teaching others the things I knew, whether it was the choreography for show choir or vocal technique to help friends make it into the Iowa All State Choir.  I started teaching professionally through my own private lesson studio at the beginning of 2008, during my final semester at college.

I picked up learning the piano in 1st grade, then switched to the cello in 5th grade.  I've played in honors orchestras through all of middle school, high school, and college.  I picked back up with piano lessons in college only to be recognized for my talent and placed in honors recitals as well as in the top piano studio my college could offer.  With both instruments, I've played in jazz bands, rock bands, and worship bands.  I can play with sheet music, play by ear, and I can improvise music on the spot.

I got my start as a director back in 2005 during the Spring semester of my sophomore year in college.  The music department needed a stage director, choreographer, makeup designer, costume manager, and male lead for their production of The Mikado.  I was chosen to fill all those roles, with the pleasure of sharing the chorography with my peers willing to take on the challenge. Since then, I have directed two or more productions a year of various kinds and in various ways - from opera to stage plays to children's productions.

There are far more details about me for you to learn.  This is something of a big-picture view of what I've done and continue to do.

Thank you for taking some time to get to know a little more about me!
